How prices on 3al3am are collected
3al3am is a community-driven price comparison platform for Egypt and the wider region. Across this part of the world, prices are often hidden — you have to call, visit the shop, or ask in person before you know what something really costs. 3al3am breaks that pattern by collecting prices that real visitors see on the shelf or on a store’s website, and showing them side by side with the date, the shop name, and the city.
1. Real first-hand submissions
Every price is attached to a shop name, a city, and the date it was observed. No scraped advertising prices, no anonymous numbers — each entry comes from a person who actually saw it.
2. Public quality voting
Other visitors thumbs-up or thumbs-down each submission based on how accurate it looks. Trusted prices float to the top, and outdated or off entries quietly fade down the list.
3. Reviewed before going live
New submissions pass a lightweight review before they appear publicly, filtering out obvious mistakes and promotional content. The goal is data you can rely on before walking into a store.
Why prices differ between shops
The same product can sell at very different prices for plenty of reasons: import costs, the volume a shop buys at, location and rent, short-lived promotions, or simply the margin a retailer chooses to take. That variation is exactly why 3al3am exists. Across the platform we currently track 3 price submissions on 1 products spread across 334 categories, so you can quickly see where the fair price lives and where it’s worth comparing before committing to a shop.
